Alumni Benefit from International Baccalaureate Program
Eleven members of the Mystic Valley Class of 2008 received a significant benefit from their successful completion of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB). The eleven graduates were able to receive a combined 102 credit hours at their respective universities. There were also several instances were the IB graduates were able to receive advanced standing due to their performance on the IB examinations while at Mystic Valley. The students are currently enrolled at: SUNY (Albany); University of South Carolina; Suffolk University; Boston University; Rochester Institute of Technology; Bentley College; Boston College; Fordham University; UMass/Lowell and Northeastern. With the cost of a college education what it is today it bears recognizing that these students have saved themselves thousands of dolars in tuition as a result of their successful performance in the IB program.
Mystic Valley's First College Grad
Denise Amirault was the very first student to receive a diploma from Mystic Valley as a member of the school's first graduating class in May 2006. In December 2009 she became the first Mystic Valley graduate to earn a bachelor's degree. Denise earned her B.A. in Financial Math with a minor in Finance from Simmons College, Boston, MA. a full semester early. This was quite an accomplishment considering during her first year she was also a member of the Simmons Crew team rowing in the Head of the Charles Regatta. Denise was also employed as a campus tour guide, a math tutor and held two retail jobs on weekends, holidays and school breaks.
Immediately following graduation, Denise began employment with District and Community Partners at 7 Harcourt Street in Boston. Denise is employed as a Project Assistant and works under the direction of a Managing Director and a Senior Consultant.
District and Community Partners is dedicated to improving the lives and learning of students with special needs while reducing the costs to school budgets and taxpayers. Their best practice philosophy and work in districts across the country proves that higher achievement at a lower cost is possible. www.districtandcommunitypartners.org
"We believe it was in large part the work ethic, emphasis on character, the challenging curriculum and the instructors of MVRCS that prepared her to excel at such a distinguished college and will continue to serve her exceptionally well throughout her professional career," said her very proud mother.
